My Favourite Makeup Artists
I LOVE working with Martine L'Heureux and Amélie Bruneau Longpré from The MakeupBox!
These girls are impossibly cool, calm, professional and their makeup is impeccable. They've worked with Sting, Martha Wainwright, Bon Jovi, Marie Mai and Mitsou, as well as many other actors, models and other Quebecoise personalities.
Below are their tips for working with a makeup artist on your wedding day.
Tip 1: Have the Makeup Artist Come to You
Have the make-up artist come to you, rather than going to a salon. It's is so much more convenient, and plus it's more fun. Women really appreciate this precious time together, especially mother of the bride. Plus, you’ll be relaxed and really enjoy these moments with your bridesmaids.
Doing your makeup at home also saves you time and energy for the busy day ahead.
Tip 2: Try Out a Few Makeup Artists
Don't be shy to try a few makeup prior to your wedding day. If you’re happy with your make-up trial, you’ll be relaxed and calm on your wedding day, because you can trust that the makeup-artist will give you exactly what you want.
You will also feel comfortable with your makeup artist, because you've met them before. This might seem like a little thing, but it's not. Wedding days are hectic and sometimes stressful, and it's comforting to have a friend at your side, rather than a stranger.
For your makeup trail with Makeup Box, we love it when you bring us ideas and clippings from magazines and Pinterest. We want to give you exactly what you want, not impose our look on you. This day is about you, not us.
Tip 3: Weddings are Not the Time To Try Out a New Look
The most important thing for us is to respect your style and personality for your wedding makeup and hair. This is not the time to try out a totally new look, completely different from the way your friends and family are used to seeing you.
Wedding makeup and hair should be more dramatic than your everyday look -- of course -- just not too different. We want to enhance the natural beauty of your features, not change them completely.
We will create beautiful makeup for your wedding day that lasts long time, and looks as good up close as is does from far away.

Tip 4: For Perfect, Camera-Ready Makeup
We don't use heavy foundation for our make-up. It's too old fashioned. It's now possible to have a perfect camera-ready face without looking like you have a ton of makeup on. We believe in making the eyes shine most of all, and enhancing all the bride's features so she feels amazingly beautiful on her wedding day.
