Inspirational Aboroginal WOmen
Inspirational Aboriginal Women was a photography exhibition by Monique Dykstra at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in Fall 2014.
The exhibition featured 9 aboriginal women who were beaten, abused and endured unimaginable hardship before arriving at the Montreal Native Women’s Shelter for help. But then, through hard work and sheer determination, these women rebuilt their lives and became role models in their communities.
The portraits were gigantic, larger-than-life images to show how far these women had come in their lives, and that they were were now strong, capable women who could no longer be abused.
