Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How long after the wedding do we get our wedding photos?
Will you take posed photos at our wedding?
Yes. I gently arrange people for the family photos. I also suggest different poses for the bridal party and the newlyweds. People appreciate advice on how to stand and where to put their hands. It makes them feel less self conscious and awkward.
The rest of the day is captured as it unfolds, moment by moment.
Do you do videography?
No. I’ve spent years perfecting my skills as a photographer, so I stick with what I do best. For video, I suggest Elie at Focus Video. He's awesome! Tell him I sent you.
Do you work with a second photographer?
I photographed alone for many years, and I loved it. It was unobtrusive. I could fade into the background no one even knew I was there.
You can’t do that with two photographers. Suddenly, there’s a “crew.”
But a few years ago, I started working with a second photographer for larger weddings. I must say, I love it. You end up with two different viewpoints and more photos.
But a second photographer is an an added cost, so it’s up to you. It’s $500 for a second photographer.
How far in advance should we book you?
ASAP. Once your date is booked, it’s gone.
Do you mind if my friends and family take photos?
No, not at all. Except during the family photos. If someone stands beside me taking photos when I'm doing the family, everyone ends up looking at them instead of me. It wrecks my photos.
Can we get the RAW files?
Sure! You bring me a hard drive, and I’m happy to give them to you.
Do you edit the photos?
Yes. All your images are edited in Photoshop, including boosting the colour, straightening the horizons, fine-tuning the exposure, adding a vignette, etc.
I also offer more advanced Photoshop retouching, such as taking 20 pounds off someone’s figure, opening someone’s eyes or swapping heads from two different photos, but there is an additional charge for this.
What kind of cameras do you use?
Nikon. But you know that the camera brand has nothing to do with how well the photos come out, right?
Are the photos watermarked?
No. They’re your photos. You paid for them.
Do you backup our photos?
Yes, on three different hard drives. Plus, I don’t erase my memory cards until you have your wedding photos in hand. It’s ridiculously overcautious, I know, but hey, can’t be too careful.
