Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Choose Studio Iris?

First, and most importantly, because you love my photography.

Next, because I take the time to understand your preferences, your dream moments, and your personal style to make sure that your wedding day is captured exactly the way you want it.

And finally, I have 25 years of photography experience and have captured countless weddings to date.  You will have peace of mind knowing that your wedding photography is in capable hands.

How long does it take after the wedding to get our wedding photos?

2 -3 weeks, unless it's right in the middle of wedding season, then it might be a few weeks more.

Do you do videography?

No, but I I've been in the business for 25 years and can tell you who Montreal's best videographers are.

Do you work with a second photographer?

It depends. It’s up to you, as it's an additional cost for the client.

Having a second photographer is not really necessary, but its great. You end up with two different artistic visions of your wedding day, because two different people are seeing and documenting your special day.

You also end up with a lot more wedding photographs.

Do you have backup camera equipment in case something goes wrong?

I have 2-3 backups of everything: cameras, flashes, lenses, batteries, memory cards, lighting, clothing and more.

It is a huge responsibility to photograph someone's wedding. There are no reshoots. Having backup equipment is the only way to guarantee that I can capture every moment of someone's once in a lifetime day.

Will you take posed photos at our wedding?

Yes. I gently arrange people for the family photos. I also suggest different poses for the bridal party and the newlyweds. People appreciate advice on how to stand and where to put their hands. It makes them feel less self-conscious and awkward.

The rest of the day is captured as it unfolds, moment by moment.

How far in advance should we book you?

ASAP. Once your date is booked, it’s gone.

Do you mind if my friends and family take photos?

No, not at all. Except during the family photos. If someone stands beside me taking photos when I'm doing the family, everyone ends up looking at them instead of me. It wrecks my photos.

Can we get the RAW files?

Sure! You bring me a hard drive, and I’m happy to give them to you.

Do you edit the photos?

Yes. All your images are edited in Photoshop, including boosting the colour, straightening the horizons, fine-tuning the exposure, adding a vignette, etc.

I also offer professional Photoshop retouching for an additional fee, such as slimming down someone’s figure, opening someone’s eyes or swapping heads from two different photos.

What kind of cameras do you use?

Nikon. But you know that the camera brand has nothing to do with how well the photos come out, right?

Are the photos watermarked?

No. They’re your photos. You paid for them.

Do you backup our photos?

Yes, on three different hard drives. I also back them up online. Photographing someone's wedding - and safeguarding their photos - is something that I take very, very seriously.
